Green Day 2011

1 September 2011  – “Trees in our Habitat – Habitats in our Trees”

Celebrating the International Year of Forests

Another fantastic Green Day has been and gone with a huge day of fun and learning for Year 5 and 6 students from 18 schools around the region.

Deane HuttonThis year’s special presentation was “Going Green with Dr Deane” an entertaining show about aspects of the Earth and sustainability.

Information on Dr Deane can be found here:

Aside from looking at the importance of trees to humans and other living organisms, there was a range of activities about no-dig gardens, composting, recycling and bringing back native fish, to name but a few.  There was even a Platypus walking around!
